All of us connect to the internet everyday. We rely on social media apps to interact and communicate with our peers. We share our memories and experiences online. We buy and sell stuff on the internet.
It’s imperative that we declare personal information as participants in the ever-growing consumption through digital communications.
But this exposure to exponential information and capabilities comes at a great risk.
Here’s something I posted on my LinkedIn that emphasizes on the importance of Cybersecurity and why companies should invest heavily on their Security team.
And because privacy matters, it’s crucial for a Security Professional to become adept in making sure that a company, its networks and resources are secured and protected.
If you are new or planning to get into the Cyberspace industry, one of the best things you can do to jumpstart your career is to aim for the CompTIA Security+ SY0-501 exam. This certification will get you started on the terminologies, technologies and procceses that you will encounter and practice in your role as Network Security Specialist.
You can learn more about it here.
A lot of people ask me how I prepare and study for certifications, what resources I use. So let me share with you my strategy:
- I study at random hours throughout the day. An hour in the morning, during lunch and all the time while commuting.
- I save all study resources on my phone. No hard copies.
- I write down notes. Studies show the brain retains the information a lot longer when you write it down.
- I always use a combination of classroom training, official study guide book, online videos and online course.
We all know that Networks will eventually get Virtualized. And that the most essential thing is how to secure the data and information on these networks.
This is why I think Cybersecurity is the next big thing. You should read about it.
